Flare demure
Navigating in the dark: The third Kunstraum exhibition this year invites you to explore the ambiguous and obscure. Flare demure is the title of Alice Slyngstad’s immersive installation: an elaborate transmedia ensemble between mythical labyrinth and queer heterotopia. It is the first solo show in Austria by the Norwegian artist who works at the interface of performance and installation.
ALL THE FEELS!
Hormonal rollercoasters, identity crises, bottomless despair, and excessive euphoria: In the group exhibition All the feels!, guest curator Nora Mayr invites the Kunstraum audience on a trip through the emotional worlds of teenage and early adult years. Together with the artists Oska Gutheil, Stine Marie Jacobsen, Hannah Neckel, Maruša Sagadin, Molly Soda, and Anna Witt, the show explores the (forgotten) transformative potential youth has to offer in times of global uncertainties.
BLISS, BLISS, BLISS
In line with its annual theme Heartbeats Rising, Kunstraum Niederoesterreich sets out to explore the relationship between feelings of ecstasy and the fear of catastrophe through its first exhibition of the year, Bliss, bliss, bliss. In collaboration with artists James Bantone, Laura Gozlan, Leon Höllhumer, Tiona Nekkia McClodden, P. Staff, and Chin Tsao, Bliss, bliss, bliss addresses the impact that the experience of a world in decline has on our ability to feel and to desire.
HEARTBEATS RISING
Emotions in times of a global state of permanent emergency: when under stress, one's pulse starts racing, the body switches to crisis mode, one freezes in fear or looks for ways to endure – what applies to the individual also applies to society. In its annual program 2024 Heartbeats Rising Kunstraum Niederoesterreich is taking a look at the dynamics between crisis and emotion. How are the extreme emotional states which the crisis and catastrophe threats put us in reflected in art?
Kunstraum Niederoesterreich is a lively space for contemporary art in Vienna. Our program consists of exhibitions, performances, and discursive formats and presents the work of emerging artists based in Austria as well as international artistic positions.
